Privacy Policy
Pixlsaver is built to help you capture, annotate, and share your screenshots and video clips securely. We do not sell your personal data or uploaded media to advertisers, brokers, or third parties. Your private gallery remains strictly private to you.
1. Introduction & Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how Pixlsaver ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, protects, and discloses personal information and content when you access our website (pixlsaver.com), download and use our desktop client software, or interact with our APIs (collectively, the "Service").
By registering an account, installing the client software, or utilizing the Service, you consent to the data collection and usage practices described in this Privacy Policy.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information in the following categories to provide and secure the Service:
- Account Information: When you register an account, we collect your email address and display name. Your password is cryptographically salted and hashed using industry-standard secure authentication protocols; we never store plain-text passwords.
- User Content (Uploaded Media): When you capture and upload screenshots, recordings, or video clips, we store the resulting image and video files, optional audio tracks captured with your explicit permission, file dimensions, timestamps, tags, and annotations.
- Payment & Billing Data: If you purchase a Pixlsaver Plus subscription, all payment transactions are processed directly by our third-party payment processor, Stripe. Pixlsaver does not collect, process, or store your credit card number, expiration date, or CVV code. We only receive verification of payment, your Stripe customer identifier, and subscription status (active, renewed, or canceled).
- Client Preferences & Settings: The desktop client stores your local configuration (e.g. video framerate, compression method, audio recording toggles, and API key) locally on your device in your configuration files.
- Server Logs & Technical Data: When accessing the Service, standard HTTP request logs collect IP addresses, browser user-agent strings, referral headers, and access timestamps to protect against distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks, brute-force intrusions, and abuse.
3. How We Use Your Information
We utilize collected information exclusively for the following operational purposes:
- To provide, operate, maintain, and improve the screenshot capture, video clip generation, and cloud hosting platform.
- To generate public and private shareable links (e.g.
pixlsaver.com/i/...) for images and videos you choose to share. - To calculate storage usage and enforce plan quotas (such as the Free tier 150 MB cap and 10-second video duration, or the Plus 10 GB storage pool).
- To authenticate your identity, secure your account with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and verify API keys.
- To send important administrative notifications or product updates (only if you have opted in to receive email notifications on your profile).
- To investigate, prevent, and remediate violations of our Terms of Service or applicable law.
4. Content Visibility and Sharing
Your Dashboard & Gallery: Images and videos in your dashboard are private and accessible only to you through authenticated sessions.
Public Shared Links: When you copy and share a direct link to an image or video, anyone with that unique link can view that specific media item. You retain full control over your media: deleting an item from your gallery permanently removes it from the public link immediately.
Zero Sale of Data: We never sell, lease, monetize, or license your personal information, email address, or uploaded content to data brokers or third-party advertisers.
5. Third-Party Service Providers
We partner with trusted, industry-leading infrastructure providers to deliver the Service:
- Cloud Infrastructure & Hosting: We utilize enterprise-grade, certified cloud facilities (maintaining strict SOC-2, ISO-27001, and physical security standards) for data storage, processing, and global content delivery. All stored files and database records are protected by strong encryption at rest.
- Stripe: Payment processing for subscriptions is handled by Stripe, a certified PCI-DSS Level 1 service provider. Stripe's handling of your financial information is governed by the Stripe Privacy Policy.
6. Data Retention & Deletion
User Media: Media uploaded to your Pixlsaver account is retained as long as your account remains open and in good standing. When you delete an image or video via the dashboard, the object is immediately purged from our active storage systems and database indexes.
Account Deletion: You may request complete deletion of your Pixlsaver account and all associated media at any time by contacting us via our Support page or emailing support@pixlsaver.com.
7. Security Safeguards
We employ modern, defense-in-depth administrative and technical safeguards to protect your data:
- Encryption in Transit: All communications between your browser, the desktop client, and our servers are encrypted using modern Transport Layer Security (TLS 1.2 and TLS 1.3 / HTTPS).
- Encryption at Rest: Stored screenshots, video clips, and database records are encrypted at rest.
- Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA): Pixlsaver provides Time-based One-Time Password (TOTP) two-factor authentication so you can protect your account against unauthorized access.
- Restricted Access: Production access is strictly limited to authorized personnel with multi-factor authentication.
8. Cookies & Local Device Storage
Pixlsaver uses minimal, necessary cookies to provide authentication sessions:
- Session Cookies: A secure HTTP cookie (
token) is used to maintain your logged-in state across the web gallery and profile pages. We do not use third-party tracking, behavioral advertising, or fingerprinting cookies. - Desktop Local Storage: The desktop client stores your API key and application preferences locally on your Windows computer in
settings.jsonandconfig.toml.
9. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to individuals under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EEA/UK). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we discover that a child has provided us with personal data, we will promptly delete such information.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may revise this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect enhancements to our service, legal obligations, or technical modifications. When changes are made, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document. Continued use of Pixlsaver after any update signifies your agreement to the revised policy.
